Work on the gazebo in Memorial Park in Bayfield has been completed thanks to a restoration project headed up by the Bayfield Civic League. TheDailyPress reports the history of the gazebo begins in 1913 when the women of the Bayfield Civic League raised money to have it built. The foundation was in poor condition, making the entire structure unstable. The Civic League went to the community and received about $100K in donations. The funds made creating a concrete foundation and using larger beams to support the rool possible. The structure is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The gazebo will now be ready to again host the Tuesday and Thursday concert series on summer evenings as well as summer holiday celebrations, art fairs and weddings.
