At a recent special meeting of the Bessemer City Council, the council voted to create a new position. TheDailyGlobe reports interim City Manager Mandy Lake was asked by members to create a rough draft of an application for the position of a Director of Community Development. The staff discussed what responsibilities and skills the person filling the position would need and whether the position should be full time or part time. The question of having one person fill two roles, city manager and treasurer was put forth. Having staff promoted up into a couple of roles was also discussed. Council members are expected to address the issue again at their meeting on the 27th.
