At their meeting last week, the Vilas County Board approved the reorganization of the county’s social services department into a human services department. TheLakelandTimes reports the Tri-County Human Services Center, in operation since 1984 will essentially dissolve by January 1, 2025. After a feasibility study, an oversight committee was formed with the main purpose of overseeing the transition from a joint effort to individual county systems. Vilas, Oneida and Forest counties will continue to serve the clients of the Human Services Center but will expand their accountability and continue to find ways to serve its clients.
