After working for the Gogebic County Sheriff’s office for 31 years, Sheriff Ross Solberg announced earlier in the month that he planned on retiring at the end of the year. TheDailyGlobe reports that during a public comment session of a county board of commissioners meeting, Solberg said he just thought it was time. He also said that he’ll be endorsing Undersheriff Jorge Cruz as his successor. Cruz has said he intends to run for Sheriff in the next election and will be filing his candidacy documents soon.
