Plans for This Year’s Gogebic County Fair Moving Forward

A proposal has been put before the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners suggesting that the county fair take place at the Pat O’Donnell Civic Center. According to TheDailyGlobe, the Board voted to approve the proposal, and allot $17,500 towards expenses for the event, as it has in the past. The Fair Board had been searching for a solution for this year’s fair after the fire at the fairgrounds and the county’s decision to limit use of the fairground to allow construction and repairs. Civic Center officials have reacted positively to using the facility, but the full board has not met yet and approved the request. County Board of Commissioners Jim Lorenson did request a budget for the fair from the fair board by the end of the month.
