U.P. lawmakers are joining forces in demanding accountability when it comes to the closure of Aspirus Ontonagon. Congressman Jack Bergman joined with Michigan State Senator Ed McBroom and State Representative Greg Markkanen have sent a letter to the CEO of Aspirus Health, questioning the construction of a new facility that would replace the current facility, stating that building the new facility doesn’t hold to Aspirus’ commitment to the Ontonagon Community. The letter also points out that in closing the Ontonagon facility, access to emergency room services will have very real consequences and could directly endanger the lives of those in the region.
