About a 100 students, alumni and Ashland residents met at the Bay City Bohemian Hall late last week to discuss the fate of Northland College. TheAshlandDailyPress reports the discussion also touched on the impact the college has on students and the community. Associate professor Angela Stroud attended the meeting with a handful of ideas that she hoped might allow Northland to become a viable, financially sound institution. The campus was intended to serve 700 students and currently only has 450 enrolled. Small groups formed during the meeting to brainstorm on ways to keep the doors open, and at the end of the meeting, a group named Northland Forever formed, dedicated to providing information about whats going on with the school, including fund raising efforts run by the alumni rather than the board of trustees.
