Accessibility to Rural Healthcare Focus of Upcoming Forum

Thursday, a public meeting is being held to discuss accessibility to rural healthcare since the Marshfield Health System closed the Mercer Health Clinic. WXPR reports the next closest hospitals are in Ironwood and Minocqua. Iron County has an aging population and no hospital. Many of Wisconsin’s northern rural counties have aging populations. The forum, being held in Mercer at the Community Center, starts at 6 with an hour long panel discussion and then a question and answer session. The discussion will look at Mercer’s specific needs and will included the CEO of Northlakes Community Clinic, the CEO of Family Health Center of Marshfield and the Iron County Health Officer.
