A Simple Trash Bill May Get Complicated for Those In Ashland

Residents in Ashland may soon see an increase in their trash bill, as the result of the renewal of a five year contract the city holds with Republic Services. TheAshlandDailyPress reports Republic services has increased its fees by 27%. Right now, recycling has simply been a part of a resident’s overall trash bill. But now the city is considering charging $3.10 a month for recycling to offset the price hike from Republic. Rates for trash collection would remain the same, the recycling charge would add about $37 a year to the usual trash bill. The city council is expected to put the new recycling charge on its agenda in the next few months.
