Several Small Communities in Wisconsin to Receive Housing Assistance

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation’s Rural Thrive Initiative is distributing grants to 10 rural communities across the state, including the town of Bell, in northern Bayfield County. TheAshlandDailyPress reports Bell and the other communities will receive $25,000 in grants, two years of technical assistance in planning and grant-application writing and other services usually only accessible to larger communities. In the case of Bell, the WEDC will partner with Bayfield County Housing Authority and the town of Bell to bring more affordable housing for seniors, initially anywhere from 8 to 12 units at an as yet undetermined location. the housing authority will in the next few weeks meet to go over an implementation plan for the project.
