The City of Ashland has two projects that would improve the downtown area and is looking for funding. Renovation of the Vaughn Public Library will be put to a vote as to whether the city can fund the project through a bond worth $4.3 million. The city would also apply for a $2.5 millon grant what would help with the improvements. The city wold have to provide matching funds for that grant. The second project, the conversion of the building that housed Ashland County’s Health and Human Services Department at 514 Main Street, would have the city partner with two entrepreneurs interested in developing the building into a restaurant and brewpub. The city would need a quarter of a million to help with renovating the building’s elevator and back wall.
