Despite that fact that the area is now getting snow, the late start to the winter season has made it difficult for local snowmobile clubs to work on trails and get them in shape. TheDailyGlobe reports earlier in the week, reps from the different clubs in the area said the nearly 600 miles of snowmobile trails in Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon are far from ready. Iron County trails are still closed, Gogebic and Ontonagon have seen colder temps which are helping create trail bases, but trail conditions are still poor at best. Iron County Forest Administrator Eric Peterson has said the season may be over before it ever starts.
