A new judge has been chosen to preside over the murder trial of Ashland business owner, Nathan Monkelien. TheDailyPress reports Monkelien’s attorney requested a substitute for Judge Kelly McKnight. Iron County Circuit Court Judge Anthony Stella will now hear the case. Monkelien faces two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of brothers Manuel and Luis Garcia Salas. Monkelien will also be tried later separately on a variety of drug trafficking and possession charges. If convicted on the murder charges, Monkelien faces life in prison.
