Renovations for the Vaughn Public Library in Ashland will be decided by the voters this Spring. Residents put together a petition of have the matter put on the ballot, and the petition was accepted. The question will be simple, should Ashland pursue general obligation bonds to fund the renovation of the library building. TheDailyPress says one of the petition drives organizers, Don “Ocky” Jaskowiak has said he thinks it would make more sense to move the library and then find a developer for the old building that would renovate it into apartments, which would create a tax base. Funding from the general obligation bonds would fund about half the project.
