Ashland Man Charged with Murder Declines Preliminary Hearing

TheDailyPress reports Nathan Monkelien appeared via Zoom on Wednesday and waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Monkelien faces life in prison if convicted of the murders of Manuel and Luis Garcia while they were visiting their brother, who works at Taqueria La Monarca, which is next door to Monkelien’s Stagecoach Bar and Grill. Monkelien is scheduled to be arraigned on the 21st. He’ll be formally charged and will be asked to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty at that time.
