A Close Call At A Local Thrift Store Brings Out Bomb Squad

A live WW2 era hand grenade was found among some items donated at the True North Goodwill in Ashland over the weekend. An employee found the item, called 911 and everyone was evacuated from the building. The grenade was placed outside the building when law enforcement arrived. The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department and Bomb Squad safely detonated and disposted of the grenade. No other munitions or weapons were found in the donation bin. True North Goodwill said their stores do not accept weapons as donations and wouldn’t resell them in their stores. The store was reopened the next day
