Wisconsin Had Big Year in Outdoor Tourism

There is no question that the one of the biggest revenue sources in the area is outdoor recreation and this past year was no exception. According to Wisconsin Public radio the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis in it’s latest report says outdoor recreation added $9.8 billion dollars to the state’s coffers…thats a record, and all that tourism has created jobs, with nearly 94,000 positions in the tourism industry in the state last year. Analysis shows that tourism in the Northwoods has grown steadily since 2019 and is expected to continue to grow in 2024. Nationally, outdoor recreation has steadily grown more popular, perhaps fueled by the pandemic in part. For the first time ever, outdoor recreation has contributed more than $1 trillion to the U.S. economy.
