Washburn City Council Votes Yes on Park Expansion

Expansion of a campground in Washburn is moving forward, despite protests from the public. Residents have expressed concerns about the future of the lakefront trail that runs through the park. TheDailyPress says the plan is to add more RV sites, yurts and tent camping, as well as bathroom and shower facilities. The city council voted 6-1 to put out a call for bids on the project, which is expected to cost just over a million dollars. Councilmember Jennifer Maziaz was the lone dissenter, citing a lack of a community area and plantings for the expansion.
