At its meeting last week, the Vilas County board approved bids for the purchase of the chassis/cabs of a plow truck and patrol truck. TheLakelandTimes reports the Vilas County highway commissioner said the approval of the bids is contingent on reviews the specs of each vehicle. Normally bids are taken for truck boxes and plows and other equipment to outfit county trucks, but given the unusually long delivery time of the chassis and cabs of the truck, the highway committee thought it prudent to order the trucks first. Delivery of the two chassis and cabs could take as long as 18 months.
