School Districts Report Cards Could Use Improvement

For the second year in a row, only one school district in the Bay Area has met all the criteria in thisyear’s Department of Instruction report card. TheAshlandDailyPress reports Bayfield is the only district that has fulfilled all requirements. Ashland and Washburn in the first school year back after the pandemic has had trouble getting back to expected achievements within the districts. Of the schools score across the state, 83% met or exceeded expectations. Bayfield met state expectations this year, scoring 60.7 overall, compared to 48 in 2019-2020 and 59.4 after that. Ashland this year scored 55.7 and Washburn scored 56.4. Those numbers are not percentages, but a summary of the district’s success. Despite the scoring, school administrators are heartened and determined to get their kids back on track as the school year progresses, saying if anything was learned from the pandemic, finding different ways to teach students in any situation was foremost.
