Historic Hotel Has New Owner

What is considered to be one of the most haunted hotels in the state and a gem in downtown Ashland, the Hotel Chequamegon has a new owner. TheAshlandDailyPress reports Travis Turner always admired the hotel, reminding him of the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. In November, Turner, who owns two hotels in Ashland and others in the Superior/Duluth and Ladysmith areas made owner Theodore Kavajecz an offer, and he took it. Turner says initially he won’t make any changes, but is considering what to do with the restaurant and adding a few suites. The executive director of the Ashland Chamber, Mary McPhetridge says having the historic value of the hotel complements the whole downtown area.
