Iron County Voters Will Go to Polls on Mill Levys In February

Voters will have at least two millage proposals to vote on when the polls in Iron County open on February 27th. The IronMountainDailyNews says the county board put forth 1.25 mills for the Iron county Central Dispatch/911 service for four years, as the current mill expires in 2024. There is also a 1.5 mill that would pay for the Iron County Medical Care Facility, from 2024 through 2028. A third millage was suggested, to pay for the Iron County Veterans Service Office, but the board decided to pay for that from the county’s general budget, rather than continue a .75 millage. The county will match the just over $47, 500 annually from that millage. Board members said the county should be responsible for that service rather than the taxpayers.
