Criminal Proceedings in Houghton Shooting Move Forward

The name of the man killed in a shooting in downtown Houghton has been released. At his appearance Friday in 97th District Court, Evan Dixon was denied bond during his hearing, with the court moving the case forward, with an arraignement hearing to be scheduled in 21 days in the shooting death of Theron Duncan at the Douglass House Saloon Monday last. No word on a motive. Evan Dixson is a licensed attorney, however he did ask for a public defender. He’s charged with one count of first-degree premeditated murder and one count of possessing a firearm while committing a felony.
