Bayfield County Works to Keep Only Retirement Home Open

Bayfield County Board officials are working on a couple of fronts to keep the county’s only nursing home open. TheAshlandDailyPress reports the Northern Lights Board of Directors and the Bayfield County Board of Supervisors have agreed to hire Health Dimensions Group toan assess and evaluate its operations and present the boards with it’s conclusions to move forward. The county is also exploring grant funding sources to help keep the home open for those very longtime residents. The county board has approved a just over $1.1 million bid to install a new roof at the home, which will be a great benefit. Funding for the roof has been provided by short term bonds that will bump up tax bills at $80 a year for every $100,000 of property value.
