Late last week, the Lac du Flambeau Tribal Council demolished the resale shop run by the Community Presbyterian Church after it was discovered that the area was a burial ground. According to WXPR, investigations after a sinkhole formed in the church parking lot. Ground penetrating radar was used and found multiple graves. The church, founded in 1872 sits in the center of the Lac du Flambeau reservation. Although sad for members of the congregation, church leader Steve Schunk in sermons last week, that it was important that the congregation be respectful of the situation and the tribe.
