Some City Workers in Hurley to Get Raises, New Equipment

The special meeting of the Hurley City Council on Monday set a few things in motion. TheDailyGlobe reports the council approved the purchase of a new squad car for the police dpeartment, and two administrative assistants, firefighters and seasonal student workers all received raises. Clerk/Treasurer Stacy Wiercinski said the raises are long coming, as all are grossly underpaid. The council also voted to increase the Fire Department’s miscellaneous equipment budget by $1,000. The council also voted to approve individual department budgets although there will be another budget meeting to make some adjustments.
