Renovation of Library to Move Forward in Ashland

The Ashland City Council approved the renovation of the Vaughn Public Library at their meeting earlier this week. The next step in the $4.3 million project is to finalize and put out a call for bids. TheAshlandDailyPress says if the bids come back within budget, the city will then borrow money by selling municipal bonds. Starting in 2025, owners of a $100,000 home would pay an additional $17 a year for the first two years and then $31 a year after that. The library will also pursue grants and fundraising. The last time the building was renovated was in 1980. The new plan would bring the building up to modern standards, including making it more energy efficient.
