Man Suspected in Shooting of Two Men In Ashland Arrested

Nathan “Freddie” Monkelien (mahn-kyel-leen) of Ashland is in custody in connection with the two recent shootings in Ashland. Judge Kelly McKnight in Ashland County Circuit Court ordered Monkelien to be held on $1 million bond. TheDailyPress reports that Monkelien stated through his attorney that the two men shot were trying to rob him. The Special Prosecutor told the judge yesterday that the evidence, video of Monkelien leaving the scene with a gun, fleeing police and resisting arrest as well has having amphetamines in his blood when arrest is strong against him.
