At its last meeting, the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners voted to approve the county’s 2023-24 fiscal budget. According to TheDailyGlobe, the vote was unanimous after no comments from a public hearing before the vote. The budget totaled $8,746,009, with a large part of it, just over two million dollars going towards public safety, in particular the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office. Public safety also includes emergency management, snowmobile law enforcement, marine law enforcement, the new school liaison program, and Bessemer/Wakefield patrols.
