It’s Plaidurday in the U.P. and there are three communities vying for wearing the most plaid in the state. 6News reports Ironwood, Keweenaw and Marquette are all in competition to be the one who sports the most of the iconic symbol of the Upper Peninsula. In fact, Keweenaw is looking to set a world record for those wearing the most plaid. The tradition of Plaidurday was created by Yooper and owner of the U.P. Supply Company, Bugsy Sailor, who says the true spirit of Plaidurday is the joy of Yooper culture. He says the day is all about getting out, seeing friends and making new friends while enjoying a piece of Upper Peninsula tradition. All three locations plan to have fun, games and drinks after their group photos.
