A crowdfunding campaign for the new Hiawatha Park Playground in Ironwood is close to its deadline. So far, the city has raised $36,000 for the new park, and the city has until Wednesday to come up with $14,000 to qualify for a matching grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. 6News reports Community Development Director Tom Bergman said the fundraiser is online only, and can be found on Patronicity. Bergman also says that if the city doesn’t make the goal and get the matching funds, it will still move ahead with the project, find another way to pay for it and or revamp the plan for the playground.
