More than 19 organizations participated in this past Saturday’s crash simulation at the Gogebic Iron County Airport. TheDailyGlobe reports the event is held every three years, put together so that emergency personnel get a chance to sharpen their skills. Volunteers were allowed to pick their own “injuries” and then boarded a bus parked on the runway of the airport, that served as the fictional “airplane” and then the event started. Planning for the drill took more than a year and Emergency Management officers will submit a report to the state of the results. This year’s event garnered the highest number of volunteers the event has ever attracted. Lunch followed the two hour event and all in attendance were debriefed.
