Demolition has begun at the Gogebic County Fairgrounds. TheDailyGlobe reports that heavy equipment arrived on Tuesday and demolition was underway on Wednesday. County Administrator Juliane Giackino took a representative of the demolition company on a tour of the buildings last week and they said it would take roughly a week to finish the demo of the grandstands, poultry barn and a trailer on the property. In related news, chairman of the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners, James Lorenson has created a two man committee with Fair Board Chairman James Byrns to pinpoint and move on projects at the fairgrounds. Lorenson said the compact committee will be able to move quickly on the work recommended by structural engineers.
