The second free Off Road Vehicle weekend is this weekend in the U.P. The Department of Natural Resources said the idea is to get folks out to enjoy the trails and that they’ll then decide to buy trail passes and licenses in the future. 6News says Trails Coordinator Ron Yesney for the DNR said after the first free trails weekend in June, more riders purchased trail passes and that folks traveled from Indiana and Wisconsin came to try out Michigan trails. There are 1500 miles of routes and trails, and Marquette County Sheriff Greg Zyburt said have a good time but also exercise caution and be aware that officers will be out in force to maintain safety.
