Based on the success of the Michigan Reconnect Program, the state has invested another $70 million dollars and lowered the qualifying age for the program from 25 to 21, which could potentially help another 350,000 Michiganders. WXPR reports the state is continuing its effort to address the shortage of qualified workers in the state by providing post high school education for those who might not be able to afford courses. Michigan Reconnect will continue to offer tuition free community college to those adults. Since 2021, the program has helped more than 123,000 students continue their education. Michigan is one of only a handful of states that offer free community college to its residents.
