Copper Mining in the U.P. Taking Steps Forward…
White Pine – The proposed mining project at White Pine North saw forward movement mid-month as officials from Highland Copper and Kinterra Capitol visited the area. TheDailyGlobe reports a release from Highland said that permits are being applied for and that site preparation is expected to begin in 2025, with construction of the mine planned for 2026. The visit gave Kinterra, a private equity firm a change to connect with local stakeholders. White Pine North is expected to create local tax revenue, business spending and jobs for the estimated almost quarter century of operation of the mine.
