Highland Copper has taken on a partner in its White Pine North project in Ontonagon County. WNMU reports Kinterra Copper USA has made a cash payment of $30 million, which gives the company a 66% stake in White Pine North. That money will allow Highland to begin early work on the Copperwood project outside Wakefield, which is fully permitted and is moving toward development and production. A second $30 million will be paid to move the project forward through permitting, infill drilling and a feasibility study, which should begin next year, with construction of the actual mine expected to begin in 2026.
