The U.P. may be treated to a spectacular light show this evening. TheAshlandDailyPress reports a solar storm is predicted to hit our atmosphere, which causes the Aurora Borealis, mostly seen in Alaska, Canada and Scandinavia. A peak in solar activity may be large enough to affect the skies further south, including most of the northern states in the U.S.m including Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. To watch the aurora, you must be away from city lights, the darker the better. Best times to catch activity will be from 10 pm tonight to 2 am. As geomagnetic storms go, on a scale from one to nine, the predicted show tonight could rank at about a six.
