City Employee Sought for Local Government Position

The city of Wakefield is without a deputy treasurer. TheDailyGlobe reports that Mandy Lake’s last day as treasurer was June 30th. City Manager Robert Brown Jr. will assume Lake’s duties while a new deputy treasurer is sought. City Manager Brown says that Lake’s closing wage was $23.75 is not appropriate starting pay for that position. That in mind, the city council voted at its last meeting to offer $22 an hour, with raises to $24 by the end of their third year. A package at that pay rate was offered to an applicant, but it was turned down, so the search for a suitable applicant continues. When that person is found, the number of Wakefield city employees will total 13.
