Replacement of Damaged Sewers May Prove Expensive for Washburn

Property owners in Washburn are facing the possibility of a really big repair bill, all due to roadwork being done on the city’s main drag. TheAshlandDailyPress reports Bayfield Street is being torn up to check the condition of sewer lines underneath it, and as that work is being done, property owners will be required to make repairs if necessary to the lines that extend to the sewer. The Washburn Area Chamber and City Adminstrator Scott Kluver says they’re looking for grants and other funding to help property owners. Besides the cost, there will also be the issue of disruption to business while the work is being done. Although the news is distressing, several business owners have said the work must be done and will make for an improved main street.
