Michigan to Receive Federal Grants to Repair Pipelines

Michigan, along with several othe states, will soon receive funding to repair or replace leaky pipelines. The Transportation Department announced that grants to upgrade 270 miles of natural gas pipelines in 19 states will soon receive a part of 196 million dollars in funding. The $1 billion federal program will be funded through President Biden’s infrastructure law. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said of the grants, the funding will help protect residents from dangerous leaks, create good-paying jobs, and reduce methane emissions in communities across the nation, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
