Lac du Flambeau Woman Steals Car, Leads Law Enforcement on Chase

woman from Lac du Flambeau led officers on a high speed chase after stealing a vehicle early last week. TheLakelandTimes reports a woman called the local tribal police department reporting her Honda Civic had be stolen from a laundromat. Earlier in the evening, Josephine A. Smith had been released from a local hospital and was taken to a local shelter. Minoqua Police officer Michael Czaplinski attempted a traffic stop of Smith, reporting that she was driving at a high rate of speed and was weaving in and out of traffic. Smith hit another vehicle before finally having to abandon the vehicle. She was taken into custody by the Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police to the Vilas County Jail. Her first court appearance is scheduled for mid August.
