This past Monday’s meeting of the Gogebic County Fair Board had members of the board working with the knowledge that several buildings on the fairgrounds are earmarked to be torn down, despite the fact that the county fair is just over two months away. TheDailyGlobe reports board chairman Byrns said the contractor hired by the board of commissioners could begin removing the buildings at any time. Commissioner Thomas Hampton voiced frustration that the county commission has not asked to meet with the fair board regarding the state of the fairground and its buildings. The grandstands, the poultry barn, and a mobile home used for administrative purposes are all slated to be removed. The Fair Board will meet again in 11 days.
