Bessemer Planning Commission Recommend Allowing Self Storage

At the most recent meeting of the Bessemer Planning Commission, the board voted to allow self storage units with permission in Mixed Use Corridors and Country Estate Zones in the city. TheDailyGlobe reports that the planning commission’s vote now stands as a recommendation to the City Council. Currently, the property known as North of 45 in Hancock is not currently zoned for that type of use, so the recommendation is to amend the current ordinance rather than re-zone it. The request to build the storage units comes from John Medved, who wants to put those type of units on a site on US2.
