Complaints and concerns from landowners about riders not staying on the designated route, noise and not following traffic signs has brought the viability of the connecting link between Ramsay and Wakefield into question. TheDailyGlobe reports last fall, the Wakefield City Council granted permission for the trail to be rerouted after an easement for the former trail was rescinded. Now, the city of Wakefield has no interested in renewing the agreement again this year. The Gogebic Range Trail Authority is looking at new routes and is considering adjusting last year’s route so that it runs further away from the road. All agencies involved, the MDNR, the city of Wakefield and GRTA continue to work toward a resolution.
