Search Resumes for Source of Well Near Greenland Township

Once again, personnel for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is conducting a ground search for the source of an unregulated water supply in Greenland Township. The water has been used as drinking water, with a makeshift spigot along the roadside access along the Bill Nichol Rail Trail off M-38, at the site of the old Lake Mine. Now that the snow has melted, the search continues, and it thought the source of the water is on land within the DNR’s purview. Signage has been posted at the site advising against use of the water. The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy has disabled the well until such time as its source can be identified.
