The Wisconsin Department of Transportation begins work on the Ounce River Bridge along Highway 27 in Bayfield County. TheAshlandDailyPress reports that the bridge, built in 1954, is ready to be replaced. Work includes demolition of the old bridge, constructing a new one, replacing pavement on both sides of the structure, and installing new guardrails. When that is all done, new pavement marking will be laid down. Highway 27 will be open to single lane traffic, with control done with temporary traffic signals. Construction should take til late July.
