Iron County Planning Approves Status Change for Rooming Houses

The Iron County Comprehensive Planning/Land and Zoning Committee at their meeting last week voted to approve a status change for residents who run rooming houses in the area, which are considered short term rentals. TheDailyGlobe reports the vote approved giving Schedule C IRS status to those rooming houses. Currently, persons running rooming houses are required to pay a $100 annual fee, and the permitting was on a conditional basis. Under the new status, as long as rooming houses have updated septic maintenance, the status will last for a year. Iron county currently has 120 such rooming house rentals.
