Local communities that have been living under a boil water order will soon be able to use their taps again. TheDailyGlobe reports that in a meeting on Tuesday, hosted by the city of Wakefield, included representatives from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, C2AE, U.P. Engineers and Architects, the city of Bessemer, Bessemer Township, Wakefield Township, Ironwood Township, and the Gogebic Range Water Authority, the decision was made to temporarily transfer water from Bessemer to surrounding communities, including the Gogebic Range Water Authority, which covers Wakefield, Bessemer and Ironwood. It will take several days in a complex, step by step process for Bessemer to take over the role of providing clean water. Residents should continu to check the city of Wakefield’s Facebook page for updates.
