Although a couple of very interesting and important races dominated the recent election, voters in Minoqua Also decided against an increase in the property tax levy to just over nine percent. The LakelandTimes reports the levy, which would increase by $400,000, failed by just eight votes. When the town board agreed to place the levy on the ballot, town Chairman Mark Hartzeim said the town had come to point where everything that could be cut from the budget had been. He also said that the fact that the levy didn’t pass means that at some point in the future, some other sort of referendum would have to be presented to residents in order to determine hoAw the town will continue to operate.
